Hydrobore
Hydrobore technology is the use of water as the cutting edge of an
earth-boring drill. Maxlores prototype, Hydrobore, takes the idea
further. It is a sophisticated tunnel building machine that cuts rock,
analyzes it, sorts it, and spits it out into various containers. The
prototype Hydrobore creates the tunnel walls, and reinforces them as
it oozes through bedrock like an earthworm moves through fresh wet soil.
Once the Hydrobore is operational, Maxlore will have access to the earths
core heat, and he can begin work on a geo-thermal power plant. Once
the power plant is operational, he can use the unlimited power resources
of the earth to run his industries.
Because of its simplicity, this technology has uncountable advantages
over other existing and potential technologies. Instead of focusing
on individual problems of resource acquisition and management, it is
a single solution that will address them all. Water already cuts steel
and marble. It can also carry heat and turn turbines. The Hydrobore
is a tunneling technology and a renewable energy system that takes advantage
of both of these properties. The Hydrobore would only need to dig until
it reached a temperature of 300 degrees, a depth that is easily accessible.
That heat would be transferred to the water in the borehole which, once
at the surface, would become steam and turn the turbines to provide
clean, renewable energy.
The Hydrobore itself has countless applications. Clearly the power
plant, as a producer of inexpensive, environmentally-safe energy, will
revolutionize the energy industry. But it can have an even wider impact.
People around the world suffer from a lack of clean drinking water.
The steam turning the turbines can be recaptured and processed, very
inexpensively, into drinking water.
